Love My Community – and they did!

21st March 2016

Some of you may  have read in the Visiter  about Southport schools ‘Love My Community’ initiative, coordinated by the Southport Learning Partnership. On the  Thursday or Friday before the spring half-term break,  children in many schools were allowed to turn up in the clothing of their choice provided they made a cash or food donation which showed their love for the community in which they live.

With all the donations now in we received  a massive

5.830 metric tonnes of food
Cash donations of £2,707

We are truly humbled by this absolutely fantastic response from the younger generation and we thank them, and all those who took any part in organising this event, on behalf of all the local clients who will benefit into the future.

We have since had an opportunity for us to go along to Greenbank High School and meet the headteachers who attended a meeting there of the Southport Learning Partnership. It is from this forum that the idea for the Love your Community initiative sprung and we were able to thank them personally for their work which led to the donations of food and money.
