Another great collection event at Tesco’s Southport

7th July 2016

The last day of June and the first two in July saw us at Tesco’s Kew, Southport store where we enjoyed, yet again tremendous support from our volunteers and, of course, the ever generous Southport public.   Over the three day period we collected almost 4 tonnes of food to help us assist local families in crisis over the coming days, weeks and months.  In addition to the food, Southport Sunrise Rotary demonstrated their continuing support for us by organising a bucket collection, raising £462 which will be used to purchase any staple items we happen to run short of in the future.

Our always efficient logistics team, swiftly moved the food to our warehouse at Lakeside where it it has already all been labelled with the appropriate ‘best before’ dates and much is already in position in the warehouse and being used.  The remainder will be sorted over the coming few days.  Lesley Kilbride, Community Champion at Tesco’s and the other staff at the store could not have been more helpful and the whole exercise cemented the feeling of a community in which we are pleased to play our small part.

Pictured are just a few of the many people who helped over the three days.  Thank you everybody.
