Record broken! – but we’re unhappy and worried

24th November 2016

When most records are broken it is a time for celebration – but not at a Foodbank.

September and October brought a record number of local families in crisis to our doors and we fed 874 people.  It is no wonder that our food stocks are now so severely depleted that we fear for our capacity to continue to meet demand through the winter months, which are always the most challenging for needy families.

However, in the past, our local supporters have come up trumps and we remain confident that they will do so again.  Whether at Tescos, Southport as part of the national collection on December 1st to 3rd or through our regular collections there, at other supermarkets and stores, workplaces, churches or schools, please support us by adding a tin or packet to the collection.

Often we are appealing for specific food lines but now our need is general, across the board, from beans to soup, pasta and pasta sauce to long life milk and rice pudding or custard.

Don’t let us return to Victorian times – this is the 21st century and we are told we are a prosperous country!vicroian_queue
