Thank you to all those who supported us in any way at our very successful collection at Tesco, Southport last Saturday.
Our own volunteers were supplemented by the delightful young ladies of the 58th Southport Sacred Heart Brownies who clearly charmed the shoppers.
Thanks to the generosity of those shoppers enough food (1.84 tonnes!) was collected to provide 4377 meals for local families finding themselves in a crisis situation. In addition £327 was received in cash donations which was used to purchase food items we were particularly short of.
More volunteers have been busy at our warehouse again today labelling the food and sorting it ready for distribution over the coming weeks. Our stocks were very low (non-existent for some items) and in the short-term are now healthy again.
Our collectors were very touched and humbled when one lady made a donation of £40 and a member of Tesco’s Southport staff spent £20 of her own money purchasing food for us .
