About our foodbank

Southport Foodbank

Our foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. It is now operated by local charity, Compassion Acts.

We operate from an administration office and warehouse at the Victoria Centre, Southport and have seven distribution centres throughout the northern part of Sefton, open at various times in the week.

Full details of these centres, their locations and opening times can be found by clicking the Locations tab at the top of this page.

Southport Foodbank has been open to help local people in crisis since May 2013.  In 2022 we helped local people experiencing a crisis with over 42,000 meals.

We exist not to give a handout but to give a hand up; and a key part of our role is to try and establish the root cause of the need and either offer support with this, or refer our clients to other organisations who can help. If the basic cause of the problem is debt or welfare benefits advice, we are able to directly help through our own free and confidential money advice services.

Our Debt Advice service offers help to people struggling with debts, whether this is contacting creditors and arranging repayment plans, or support with budgeting. Our Debt Advice service is part of the national Community Money Advice network.

Welfare Benefits Advice offer everything from advice about entitlement to different benefits, to support with applications and even appealing decisions. We aim to get money back into people’s pockets, meaning they have enough to afford the essentials.
