Community Money Advice

A problem shared is a problem halved - especially when the person you are sharing it with is able to offer practical help.

More than one client in seven who comes to our Foodbank with a voucher does so because of a problem with debt.  To many, their debt problem seem insoluble and never ending and cause strains on their health and relationships.  We realise this and want to help.

We have opened a Debt Advice Centre at Lakeside Christian Centre and now have a group of volunteers who can undertake a variety of roles, including:

Acting as debt adviser

Reviewing income and expenditure in detail for potential savings

Providing advice on potential options for tackling debt problems

Just providing a sympathetic ear

All our advisers have been trained by the Community Money Advice team and are able to tap into their expertise and experience.  We have access to their training, advice line and other resources – so we will not be alone in doing this.   Our service, like everything within the Foodbank, is totally confidential.
